Color

How to Choose a Lip Color: Here is the easiest way to check out a new lip color without trying on everything in the store and walking out frustrated and wondering if you will (ever) find a shade that works for you.

NOTE: Now there are so many options, everything from lip stains, matte finishes, creamy formulas, sheers, and gloss. Decide first which type of lip color you are looking for and test all of one type at a time so you don’t get confused trying to compare the different textures and colors at the same time.

  • Test the colors on the pads of your fingertips. You will quickly see whether the color you are considering is blending to your skin tone or not.
  • Wait a minute or two to see if the color changes for better or worse in response to your skin’s chemistry.
  • Look to see if the ones you are considering add enough color to brighten your coloring, just look blah, or are so bright that they overpower your coloring.
  • Finally, try one the one(s) that really vibe to you and your skin.
  • Voila, you have your new BFF lipstick!

Closet

Closet organization: Here is the fastest way I know to find the gaps in your wardrobe, and where you have over-bought (black pants) This system will also make it easy to put together great outfits quick, quick!

Sort and hang all your clothing by color groupings. You will quickly discover whether you have all the tops or bottoms you need to make monochromatic outfits and easily find the items you need to make contrasting outfits too.

My order of hanging from left to right for each color grouping: Jackets and Cardigan Sweaters, Pants, Skirts, Dresses, Blouses, Pullover Sweaters, and T-Shirts

Hint: Hang your lightest color groupings in the darker part of your closet and the darkest colors where you have the best light. Dark colors can look ok together in your closet and really “off” in bright daylight. Even better, switch to track lighting for even lighting throughout your closet, it’s affordable and easy to install.

Confidence

Clothes can be your first line of defense to build your confidence in facing the wide world, whether you are planning a presentation to pitch your great new idea, going to a social event, or even working from home.

If your closet isn’t working for you, you can experience confusion and self-doubt that will make you less confident every time you get dressed. Once you identify the problem(s) you will immediately feel some relief in knowing which areas you need to work on!

Here are the most common areas of concern:

  • Wearing what fits and flatters your body as it is right now
  • Keeping you warm/cool and comfortable
  • Making the impression you want in business and social situations
  • Enhancing or camouflaging specific parts of your body
  • Expressing your unique style point of view

Any of these areas can cause you distress, making getting dressed is no fun at all. Boo! Whatever your particular concern, email, text or call me! It would be my privilege to help you turn your closet into a haven of support and pleasure in the simple act of getting dressed. Thank you for reading and I welcome your comments below!
